Jane's "Three C's" for successful website copy

By Jane Thomson, Principal Copywriter at Read, Write, Communicate

Writing copy for the web is no easy feat. But if you stick to these three principles you are more than half way there...

Make it CLEAR  What you want to communicate on your site needs to be crystal clear. Not washed down with useless information or mixed messages. You need to get to the point fast, and the point you are making needs to be so important to your customers that you will stop them in their tracks and they'll have no need to keep browsing.

Make it CONCISE Most websites are littered with too many words. Potential customers can't find what they are looking for because it is so well hidden under all the debris of useless information. Your web copy needs to be short, sharp and sure.

Make it COMPELLING Your copy should compel your customer to buy from your site, or sign up to your site (or whatever you want them to do) right then and there! Don't give them time to think or move away.

Of course, if you would rather spend your time doing your job or running your business, then you should ask Jane at RWC to write your web copy for you.
